This morning between the hours of 3 a.m. to 5 a.m. snow fell from the heavens at an incredible rate. I woke up to see a fresh blanket of snow about 12 inches thick covering everything. Eveything glowed white. As my eyes were still adjusting to this new light I thought of the verse Isaiah 1:18. It says, "though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow, though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool."
My sins made me a bloody mess, unacceptable before Christ. But because Christ died for my sins and imputed his righteousness to me I became perfectly clean like fresh fallen snow. One great distinction must be mentioned here though. While the snow that falls to this earth is beautiful, it only covers up the brown muddy earth underneath it. The earth is still there. When Christ imputes his righteousness to me, my old sinful self dies and I become alive in Christ. His blood not only covers my sin but completely removes it.
